HEADLIGHT / FOG LIGHT BULB
The H4 halogen bulb was introduced to the European market in 1971. It was the first halogen bulb to combine low beam and high beam in one lamp. A dual-filament bulb: one 60-watt filament and one 55-watt filament. It is one of the most common bulbs on the market. It is increasingly being replaced in newer cars by separate projectors. That is, one headlight for low beam and the other for high beam. These vehicles have 2 projectors, each with a single-filament bulb. In these cases, often one is equipped with an H1 bulb and the other with an H7 bulb.
For now, the H4 bulb remains a very common reference. Its base is called P43t. The base clips onto the back of the headlight. The 3 lugs are used to clip onto the socket. One lug for the ground, another for the low beam filament, and the last for the high beam. The socket, which is connected to the vehicle's electrical system, is normally removed before disassembling the H4 bulb.
