The T4.7 Bulb: A Variant of Medium Indicator Lights

The T4.7 is a variant of the T family for dashboards—with a diameter of 4.7 mm, a slightly larger format than the T4.2 and a little smaller than the standard T5.

It equips the indicator lights of certain specific vehicles, particularly on dashboards with detailed analog instrumentation (high-end models from the 1990s-2000s). It is a less common format than the T5 but necessary for certain specific models.

Identifying your T4.7

On a dashboard, several T diameters can coexist—each for a specific use (speedometer, gauges, specific indicator lights). To identify the T4.7:

• Physical measurement with a caliper—exactly 4.7 mm
• Marking on the original bulb—often indicated as "T4.7" or "4.7mm"
• Manufacturer's documentation—the manual or service booklet sometimes lists these references

If in doubt, compare it with a T4.2 or a T5—the T4.7 is physically in between the two.

T4.7 LED

The transition to T4.7 LED follows the same principles as other T miniatures:

• Disassembly of the meter or dashboard is often necessary to access the bulb
• Polarity to check—if the LED does not light up, reverse the insertion direction
• Homogeneous color—replace all dashboard bulbs at once for a uniform rendering
