48V Traffic Lights for Forklifts

The illuminated signaling on a forklift is mandatory and regulated by the Labor Code and EN 1726 standard. Essential lights include:

• Reversing lights (white) — automatically illuminate when reversing. Mandatory on all forklifts operating in shared areas with pedestrians (warehouses, factories, logistics platforms). Often coupled with an audible reversing alarm.
• Brake lights (red) — alert pedestrians and other machinery of braking.
• Turn signals (orange) — indicate changes in direction on large logistics sites with organized traffic.
• Position lights — always on during operation to signal the forklift's presence.
• Blue spot — a blue LED projector beam projected on the ground 5-10m in front of the forklift, visually signaling its approach to pedestrians in noisy areas.

BA15S, BAY15D and P21W in 48V

Same physical formats as in 12V or 24V — what changes is only the electrical voltage. Never interchange voltages: installing a 12V or 24V bulb on a 48V forklift will immediately burn out the bulb due to overvoltage.

• BA15S 48V — single filament, used for reversing lights (white P21W), position lights, simple signaling.
• BAY15D 48V — dual filament, combines position light and brake light in a single bulb.
• P21W 48V — the most versatile for brake lights, turn signals, and reversing lights.
• P27W 48V — more powerful version for large forklifts.

Maintenance and Preventive Replacement

Recommendation for maintenance managers: periodic inspection of safety lighting during quarterly revisions. A forklift with a faulty reversing light must legally remain out of service — the absence of signaling can lead to a serious accident and incur employer liability.
