Mini ATM Fuse: More Compact, Same Protection
The mini blade fuse (ATM) is 11 mm high compared to 19 mm for the standard ATO fuse. Introduced in the 1990s, it addresses the space constraints of new dashboards and compact fuse boxes — particularly prevalent in Japanese vehicles and secondary fuse boxes of many European models. It operates on the same principle, with the same semi-transparent plastic body that allows for a quick visual check of the filament.
ATM ≠ ATO: Do Not Confuse the Formats
Although the pins of the mini ATM have the same spacing as those of the standard ATO, the mini format is too short to make proper contact in a standard ATO holder — it floats in the slot and does not establish the circuit. Always check the format of your fuses before ordering: the vehicle's wiring diagram or the fuse box cover always indicates the required type (ATO or ATM). On some recent vehicles, you will also find LP Mini fuses (Low Profile, ~8 mm) — even lower than the classic mini.
Color Code Identical to Standard ATO
The international color code applies to mini fuses as well as standard ones: red = 10 A, blue = 15 A, yellow = 20 A, green = 30 A. Always replace a blown fuse with a fuse of the same amperage rating — increasing the value removes protection and exposes the cable to the risk of overheating.
