W10W: The Intermediate Power

The W10W is a 10-watt bulb with a W2.1x9.5d base (the same format as the 5W W5W, but more powerful). It is used on certain side lights or reverse lights that require more intensity than the W5W without needing a 16W W16W.

Less common than its neighbors W5W and W16W, it is difficult to find outside of specialists. Pharos Boutique stocks this range for specific identical replacement needs on certain vehicles — commercial vehicles, trailers, industrial applications.

W10W: Three Bulbs from the Same Family

• W5W — 5W, the most common, used for parking lights, license plate lights, interior lights
• W10W — 10W, specific niche (reinforced side lights, low-power reverse lights)
• W16W — 16W, standard for modern reverse lights

All have the same W2.1x9.5d base type (similar physical shape) but their different electrical power makes them non-equivalent.

Identifying the W10W

The designation is marked on the glass or base of the original bulb ("W10W 12V"). If in doubt, compare with the W5W: the W10W is slightly larger and its filament is much more visible.
