The BAX10d base: premium VAG indicator lights

The BAX10d is a lamp base with:

• BA — bayonet base
• X — offset contact (axial) variant
• 10 — 10 mm diameter
• d — double contact (2 pins)

This base is mainly found in the premium instrument clusters of the Volkswagen group — Audi A6, A8, Q7, some high-end VW models. It's a very specific format, not equivalent to BA9s or EBS — no interchangeability possible.

Identifying the BAX10d

On a high-end Audi or VAG vehicle with a faulty instrument cluster indicator light, the BAX10d is distinguished by:

• Its 10 mm diameter (larger than the standard BA9s)
• Its 2 offset pins with axial contact
• The marking "BAX10d" or "BAX10" on the plastic base of the original bulb

If in doubt, check the manufacturer's manual or consult a specialized VAG workshop.

BAX10d replacement: halogen or LED?

Two options:

• Original halogen — identical replacement, reliable and economical. Perfect compatibility with the instrument cluster.
• BAX10d LED — 10× longer lifespan, whiter light, customization possible. For vehicles with sensitive CAN-Bus, choose a Canbus version.

On recent Audis with advanced electronic management, the Canbus version is highly recommended to avoid error messages from the onboard computer.
