24V Bulbs for Truck Headlights
Transport vehicles (semi-trailers, buses, coaches, heavy trucks, heavy-duty utility vehicles) operate on 24 volts thanks to two 12V batteries connected in series. This voltage allows for a smaller cable cross-section and improves reliability over long distances.
Crucial difference: a 12V bulb connected to 24V will burn out immediately, and a 24V bulb connected to 12V will barely light up. Always check the vehicle's voltage before ordering — it is indicated on the manufacturer's plate or by a sticker near the dashboard.
H4, H7, H1, H3 and H11 Bases in 24V
Same physical formats as in 12V, but designed for 24V voltage:
- H4 24V — dual filament low beam + high beam. Present on most trucks and LCVs. The most versatile.
- H7 24V — single filament low beam only. On modern heavy goods vehicles (approx. post-2010).
- H1 24V — high beams and fog lights on some models.
- H3 24V — traditional front fog lights.
- H11 24V — recent fog lights.
Selection Criteria for Professional Use
Three key criteria for heavy-duty use:
- Lifespan — a truck in intensive service (long-distance transport, night) travels up to 200,000 km/year. Prioritize Heavy Duty bulbs with reinforced filament (2 to 3 times longer lifespan).
- Vibration resistance — industrial roads, loads, and maneuvers subject bulbs to significant stress.
- ECE compliance (E marking on the bulb) — mandatory for vehicles in circulation for technical inspection and insurance.
Fleet Management: Ordering in Bulk
For professional fleets (hauliers, rental companies, heavy-duty workshops), ordering in quantity allows for anticipating replacements and building up workshop stock — avoiding immobilisation of productive trucks due to a blown bulb. See our cabinets & assortments range.
