24V Interior Cabin Bulbs

A truck cabin interior has numerous lighting points: main dome light, bunk lights (on sleeper cabins), storage compartments, glove box, work area lighting (loading, paperwork). All of these operate at 24V on heavy goods vehicles — not to be confused with visually identical 12V bulbs.

W5W and T10 in 24V

As with 12V cars, W5W and T10 refer to the same bulb — T10 refers to the physical format (tubular 10 mm), W5W to the CEE electrical designation (Wedge 5W). Very common in truck cabins for secondary dome lights and storage compartments. Also available in 24V LED versions for a whiter light output.

For dashboard indicator lights, T5 24V and W1.2W 24V bases equip the majority of modern trucks.

24V LED for Cabin Interior

Switching to 24V LED for a cabin interior offers tangible benefits for long-haul drivers:

• Pure white light (4,000–6,000 K) more pleasant than yellowish halogen
• Very low consumption — important for drivers who sleep in the cabin (bunk) without risking battery discharge
• 10× longer lifespan — no more frequent replacements during a trip
• Instant full power illumination, even in very cold weather

No approval is required for interior lighting — free to change. On recent vehicles with CAN-Bus management (Mercedes Actros, Volvo FH, Scania R), choose a 24V canbus LED to avoid error messages on the dashboard.
