The Mondial de l'Auto – Paris 2024 presents an exceptional exhibition titled Pop Culture by Movie Cars Central. This unique exhibition will bring together 25 iconic cars from cinema and television series at the 90th edition of the show. A passionate collector, Franck Galiègue offers through Movie Cars Central the largest collection of movie and TV series cars in Europe.
Legendary cars at Mondial de l’Auto 2024
The link between cinema and automobiles is undeniable. Some cars transcend their function to become pop culture icons, just like the actors themselves. Among the vehicles presented, the famous Batmobile, the Ford Gran Torino from Starsky and Hutch, and KITT from Knight Rider, are perfect examples of this phenomenon. These mythical cars will be exhibited at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles during the Mondial de l’Auto 2024.
Back to the 80s: aboard the DeLorean from Back to the Future
The exhibition opens with an essential car, the DeLorean DMC-12 from Back to the Future, a true time machine. Popularized by Robert Zemeckis' trilogy, this car has become a true legend thanks to the adventures of Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett Brown.
A tumultuous history for a cult car
Despite its avant-garde design and stainless steel body, the DeLorean had a difficult start. Designed by John DeLorean in 1981, it faced many obstacles, both in terms of quality and performance. It was only in 1985, thanks to its central role in the film Back to the Future, that the DMC-12 entered the history of cinema.
Cars from the greatest films and series
The Pop Culture by Movie Cars Central exhibition also plunges you into the world of Fast and Furious with the black Dodge Charger and the orange Toyota Supra. Fans of Jurassic Park will be able to admire the famous Jeep Wrangler and Ford Explorer bearing the tyrannosaurus logo. Other iconic cars such as the Peugeot 406 from Taxi 2 or the Mustang from Transformers will also be present.
Herbie: the adorable Volkswagen Beetle
Another gem of the exhibition is Herbie, the famous Volkswagen Beetle from Disney. Introduced in 1968 in the film The Love Bug, this car has become an essential figure in cinema.
Small screen stars at the rendezvous
The small screen is also in the spotlight with cult series from the 70s and 80s. You can admire the Dodge General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard, the Pontiac Trans Am from Knight Rider, or the Ferrari Testarossa from Miami Vice. More modern, Jean-Claude Convenant's famous Citroën Xantia, from the series Caméra Café, will also be exhibited.
