H8 fog light bulb

This halogen lamp is a single filament bulb with a power of 35W, it is only used for fog lights. According to European standard R37, bulbs for dipped-beam and/or main-beam headlamps must have a power of 55W.

What is the difference between an H8 and H11 bulb?

There are 2 differences between an H8 and H11 bulb:

1. Its power; an H8 bulb is 35W, an H11 bulb is 55W.

2. The lugs. Each bulb has three lugs. Of these 3 lugs, one is wider. Both bulbs have this wider lug, but positioned differently. This means that an H11 bulb cannot be put in place of an H8 bulb.

H8 or H11 bulb?

If you can't identify your bulb and you hesitate between H8 and H11, it's very simple:

The H8 is 35W and the H11 is 55W. Do not try to use one for the other. There is a small but important difference in one of the three lugs of each lamp that makes them not interchangeable.

H11 bulbs are also for dipped-beam headlamps, H8 bulbs are only for fog lamps.
